I had to dump cranky's corner over there on the ol' blogroll. I just realized it's a team blog, and I loathe team blogs. It's too bad, too cause some of it was funny. I just don't know who, tho. See...the dilemma.

I just had to talk to Daniel's friend Craig's mom. Bleh. I hate that. But then it was cool, cause I loved her.
Daniel and Craig have been hanging out a lot, since way before school got out. Craig is about as rough around the edges as Daniel is, but he's really polite and considerate, and he gets bonus points for that. So he's been here a lot, Daniel's been there a lot..
..and I've never talked to Craig's mom.
So tonight they announce that they are having a sleepover at Craig's house, 3 boys and Craig. That's bad enough, but Craig has 3 younger brothers. I tried to talk Daniel out of it, but instead said ok..."let me talk to Craig's mom". There's always a lot of phone fumbling and whispering when you say that.
"What?"
"She wants to talk to your mom"
"my mom? ok"
""Mom!!"
"Ok, here she is"
"Wait, Daniel...what's her na...."
"Hello?"
"ooh, hi..."
Oh brother. I just hate the first 'friend's mom' phone call. It wouldn't be nearly as bad, but here Daniel and Craig have been hanging out for a long time and I should have spoken to her already. But she was so damn nice. She said the same thing. "Oh, I feel so bad we should have talked by now".
I always want reassurance that their rules are basically like my rules. Stay in the house after 9:30 or so...no phone after 10, don't eat a truckload of junk...etc. She appeared to be on top of it, and I felt totally fine having Daniel over there. I loved her accent. If anyone has ever heard me do my hispanic "napkin" rant, that's exactly what she sounded like.
So here we sit teen-ager-less. And way too exhausted to enjoy it.
