Light fuse. Get Away.

We planned on beating the heat and getting to the auction preview by 10am...but we all know that didn't happen. We did get there by 11 tho, but by then it was already blistering hot. We drove a fair few cars, and have several on a list that we're planning on bidding on tomorrow. We traipsed around the auction lot until after 2pm, and by then I was starting to get foul (in mood and odor) because it was just too hot, and I needed some lunch. We went and got some fast food and went over the list we'd made, marking off what we would considering bidding on. I really fell for a Mitsubishi Mirage they had there, but there are a couple of others we're thinking will go for cheap. You just never know. We're hoping the crowd will be thin considering the holiday.

Well, for the second year in a row. We braved the crowds, traffic, red lights, congestion and headache..and drug our lawn chairs out into the middle of our street for the fireworks show. lol.

Our street started filling up with cars early this afternoon, and all the neighborhood folks had set up camp on the wide median in the middle of our street. The best fireworks show around is about 200 yards down the street at the city baseball fields. Our entire neighborhood sets up volleyball nets, barbeques, tents, gazebos..and tons and tons of chairs in preparation for the show. Katie took our chairs out there this morning to reserve us a spot. Hard work, dragging your chairs 30 feet out of the driveway. not! Mark and I were remembering all the other times we would drive all over town trying to find a decent place to watch good fireworks shows. One year we fought incredibly ridiculous traffic to see the show at Fiddler's Green, finally found a spot we could live with and then discovered along with everyone else that the show had been cancelled. We had Emma with us too, that sucked!

Also this year, we had some fireworks I bought in Arkansas when Mark and I were driving the car-b-que back from Washington DC. They have the good stuff! Daniel was in heaven setting off fireworks outside waiting for the real show to begin. Some of them were really dumb tho. One was called "Whistle ZigZag BangBang." Im not kidding. I think it must have lost something in the translation however, because it was in actuality more of a "Whistle, WhooshWhoosh, Fart."

Craziness. We saved a few sparklers and things to share with Emma sometime later. I wish I would have bought more in Arkansas. But when you're looking at fireworks in September, they just don't have the same appeal as when you're buying them July 3rd, you know?

Tomorrow is gonna be ultra crazy. After the auto auction at 10am, Katie and I have to do some major running around for shower items. We've decided to do all the food ourselves. Initially we were going to get party trays, until we inquired as to the cost. $45 for a fruit tray? I.dont.think.so.

We also have to get decorations and other foo-foo-ness that goes along with a bridal shower. Whee, Dundee.

I need a bath.
